Keeping pace with changes in the LMS market
Last week Fosway 9-Grid Learning Systems recognised Totara as a ‘Core Leader’, progressing from ‘Core Challenger’ the previous year. Fosway’s 9-Grid model analyses the learning systems market using 5 dimensions:
- Total Cost of Ownership
- Future Trajectory
Used well, it’s a strong indicator of the relative position of solutions and providers in the market and for more than 20 years has served as a source of insight for organisations considering which learning system is the right one for them. This year’s publication will again be used as an informative barometer; however, at a time when online learning is in so much demand, it also highlights the increased saturation of the learning system market. You can check out Fosway’s analysis HERE.
As a Totara Partner, it is reassuring to see the progress but largely unsurprising given the expansion of the Totara offering in 2020. The latest release of Totara means ‘Engage’ (Learning Experience Platform) and ‘Perform’ (Performance Management Suite) now sit alongside the already established ‘Learn’ (Learning Management System). The three Totara products work seamlessly together forming one platform delivering an end-to-end Talent Experience Platform (TXP).
With so many vendors providing different flavours of system with different labels, I empathise with organisations searching for their first learning system or looking to replace their current system with a next-generation system that is more aligned with their organisational goals and culture.
For even the most seasoned L&D professional with their finger on the pulse, it can be hard to keep up with the pace of learning technology and the constantly evolving strategies, methodologies, and best practices endorsed by thought leaders.
As a provider of learning solutions for more than 20 years, it’s now more apparent than ever that our job is first and foremost to listen to and understand the needs of our clients, from there we work to build strong solutions, focusing on simplicity and elegant design.
I’d be interested to hear about your experiences.
