Cortexa helps Northamptonshire Students Aimhigher

Cortexa, is building on the success of its work with a range of public sector bodies, such as Northamptonshire Observatory and Northamptonshire County Council, by re-developing a dynamic new website for Aimhigher Northamptonshire.

Operating in 9 regions across the whole of England, Aimhigher addresses the Government’s targets to increase participation in Higher Education. It is jointly funded by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) and the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and is supported by the LSC (Learning and Skills Council).

Aimhigher Northamptonshire works across 4 distinct areas within the county, providing information for young people, mature students, teachers and parents about the range of Aimhigher activities, along with practical guidance to help career or academic progression. The website also supplies information on the latest news and events, a useful links directory and a library of publications that can be downloaded.

The site’s Pathways Mapping function is a unique tool allowing potential students to discover the various course and qualification options available to them, without trawling through numerous prospectuses. The courses listed include all those that are a year or more in length and can be studied part-time. Effectively, students can map their path of learning using any start point such as chosen career or subject topic.

The revitalised Aimhigher Northamptonshire website is easily navigable, allowing large amounts of information to be readily accessed. Adapted from a paper-based system, it is a compact, live resource that can be updated simply and provides a much more convenient and efficient alternative to face-to-face consultations.

Philip Burch, County Manager for Aimhigher Northamptonshire commented, “We are extremely happy with the final outcome of the website. Cortexa has shown real commitment to the project, encapsulating the Aimhigher message and creating a dynamic, easy-to-use tool that we can manage and keep current. Whether parents want to know more about course fees or students wish to apply to Higher Education, the new website is an invaluable resource and a big step towards our ultimate goal of a complete electronic prospectus.”
